Henro (pilgrim) in Anrakuji temple, Shikoku, Japan
Most of Henros (Shikoku pilgrims) wear the white clothes, a Chinese hat and a specific wood stick. For some reason, this one was dressed in black, I don’t know why. Perhaps he had a kind of religious grade?
The Anrakuji temple is the 6th temple of the pilgrim. I slept there for my first night and I recommend it. There is this kind of fish in every temple I saw in Japan.
The Shikoku Pilgrimage a multi-site pilgrimage of 88 temples associated with the Buddhist monk Kūkai (Kōbō Daishi) on the island of Shikoku, Japan. The complete pilgrim is all around the island and takes around 2 months. For myself I did only 4 days of walking, from Naruto to Tokushima, which was a very good opportunity to visit a preserved country region of Japan and meet a lot of Japanese people without crossing a single tourist.
