CA, Québec, Montréal
I expected Montréal to be quite like Québec City, but The Paris of North America is not visually similar to Paris at all. I quickly realised the nickname comes from the language, the culture, the thriving arts scene and less about the architecture. Paris is compact, petite and walkable, whereas everything in Montréal is big! Big avenues, big ambitions, and big buildings and big suburbs. When the Édifice Sun Life was finished in the 30s, the Beaux-Arts building was the largest in the British Empire. A grandiose building at the heart of the melting pot that is Montréal.
