Reconstruction of the Golden Gown of Queen Margaret I, Historiska Museet, Stockholm, Sweden
This dress is a reconstruction of the famous ballgown of Queen Margaret I (1353-1412), the remains of which are kept in Uppsala Cathedral north of Stockholm. Medieval curators at the Historiska Museet tried to recreate the shimmering effect from the thousands of gold threads that were woven in the original dress. See what remains of the real gown, woven in the 1410s, here: www.flickr.com/photos/alex-david/53420626495/
