The Great Hall, Frederiksborg Castle, Hillerød, Denmark
Called in Danish the Riddersalen (Knights Hall), this splendid hall with its golden stucco ceiling and marble floor is the largest and most beautiful room in Frederiksborg Castle. Its creation goes back to the 17th century when over 20 sculptors worked on its ceiling. The original Hall, however, was destroyed by a fire in 1859. The present room was meticulously reconstructed afterwards between the 1860s-1880s.
