PC EMD GP30 locomotive # 2226 and former New Haven ALCO C-425 locomotive # 2557 are seen while leading a westbound refrigerator boxcar unit train toward tower SS38 at Stamford, Connecticut, 1972
PC EMD GP30 locomotive # 2226 and former New Haven ALCO C-425 locomotive # 2557 are seen while leading a westbound refrigerator boxcar unit train toward tower SS38 at Stamford, Connecticut, 1972. The New Haven Railroad and now PC is still handling many refrigerator trains on its lines. An old former New Haven ALCO switcher cab is seen on a siding to the right. In the background is the highway I-95 overpass bridge. On the catenary bridge structure you can see two short blade semaphore block signals. The train is operating on an express track so it will pass right through the up-coming station area.
Bob Hughes captured this image on film from his tower location.
