Southern Railway steam locomotive # 4501, is seen with its Railfan Excursion Train from a car view shortly after departing Salisbury, North Carolina, August 1985. The early morning overcast weather with rain has now disappeared and the day is becoming quite nice. The steam locomotive is being assisted by two EMD FP7A locomotives, plus a GP30 that is seen nearest the camera while leaning out of a car's vestibule window. At this point we are passing one of the many grade crossings along the route and the crossing gate is down with the lights flashing.
