No surrender to Thomas Davis
This flag was seen at the eircom League clash between Cobh Ramblers and Shamrock Rovers on November 18th 2006 in Cobh. The flag refers to the ongoing legal proceedings by the Thomas Davis GAA club to stop the building of a soccer stadium in Tallaght which Shamrock Rovers would be the primary tennants of.
A high court hearing is due by the end of November to hear the case by Thomas Davis GAA club. Last week the Irish Minister for Sport again re-affirmed his stance that the ground should be completed as planned. The stadium has the backing of the national government and the local county council.
The true motives behind Thomas Davis GAA clubs legal action may have been hinted at in a leaked email from Mr. David Kennedy to a national paper where he was quoted as saying "in any fight with Shamrock Rovers the GAA will be the last man standing". Understandably some Rovers fans believe that the GAA's motives in legal proceedings are simply to try to destroy Shamrock Rovers.
