Pacific Loon With Chick.

I found a pair of pacific loons with a chick Monday. Weather wasn't all that great in the morning. I skipped yesterday for the same reason. Today was more of the same, but, I figured I had better try it anyway. I spent 3 1/2 hours in the raft with them this morning. Started out windy and overcast. After awhile the sun would peek through at times, but, when it did the wind would pick up. The raft will weather vane in wind. That makes for some very interesting moments trying to keep a focus on them while spinning in a circle. Still I love my rafts. Most of the time they work great. The loons were fine with it and I could work in quite close. I didn't push it because I wasn't quite sure how they would react having a chick with them. They spent most of the time feeding the chick. Cute little fluff ball. In this shot the parent loon was watching a seagull that had been diving on them every so often. The little one would dive under water each time the seagull flew over. It was a fun morning.
