Young Male Red Fox Laying Down Resting In The Woods
I took this several days ago very early in the morning on March 16th.
I have been hoping to reconnect with him like I did last summer and fall.
After, the river froze over, he moved across and I didn't see him for quite some time.
When, I did he was very skittish and I couldn't work near a close as I had been earlier.
So, I have been trying hard to regain his trust and I think it is finally starting to work.
When, I saw him the other day he was hiding behind a group of trees.
I kept talking to him and eventually he came out and set down next to them, just watching me.
I just stood still and kept talking to him quietly.
This seemed to calm him down and he laid down and stretched out on the snow.
At one point he closed his eyes and might have dozed off.
But, at the slightest movement or noise from me he was instantly alert and ready to bolt.
As I didn't dare move, this was the best opening available to me.
At least it is a start back to where we were earlier this year.
Hopefully, it will allow me to get some better shots in better light later on.
Note, that he doesn't have a white tip on his tail.
Here is a link to a shot of him last fall:
