Cow Moose & Her Twin Calves Feeding On Clover - In Explore

I took this yesterday morning. 8/27/2023

We really haven't had a summer so far.

Most mornings start out in the low 40's & 50's.

This weekend was starting out no different.

Cool, lots of rain and also high winds.

So, when I woke up yesterday morning, as usual I asked Jan, What is it like out there today.

She is always on her iPad.

To my surprise, she said, "it is 70 degrees and cloudy". Now, the cloudy part sounded normal, but, 70 degrees at 4:30am, No Way!

But, that is what we were getting.

That and a lot of strong southwest wind.

I decided to go out as it wasn't raining.

Bad thing is wind makes animals very nervous.

So, I didn't have any great expectations of seeing much.

Saw one fox and she was spooked enough that I didn't get any good shots.

Then to the loon.

The lake was covered with white caps and no loon.

Not looking good.

So, now I went looking for moose.

As luck would have it, I saw these three grazing on clover along side of the road.

I just pulled off the road ahead of them, turned on my flashers, got out and waited for them to come to me.

All in all, I was fairly happy with the results, despite the weird weather.

Today we are back to rain dumping in buckets again.
