My new chess-playing friend. Samie (Sammy) is a chess player from Jakarta Indonesia who learned chess at age three. He plays in Union Square Park most weeknights for "...amusement" as he put it. There was telepathy going on between he and I, as I always got a very clear sense what Sammy was thinking about his opponent and their ability or ineptness during each of the four matches I stayed for. They were each over in minutes. Sammy is a player.
