Allen Petroglyph Boulder, Habersham County, Georgia 3
There are numerous petroglyph boulders in Georgia. Very few of them sit in their original locations. Two reside at the University of Georgia. One is on display in a local museum. Two are on display at State run parks. And one resides in the landscaping of a bank. Allen Petroglyph Boulder is still in its original location. This boulder is on public land and the location a guarded secret. I will continue the protective tradition and not divulge the location. It also goes by the name "Turtle Rock".
The age of images and cupules carved into the rock is speculated but not accurately known to the best of my knowledge. One source says the rock is near an old "Indian Trail". That is possible I supposed. Nearby the rock, is a deeply incised long abandoned road that appears to be quite old. Some modern roads are known to follow original Indian trails.
