Details of Stamford House

This ornate Victorian colonial building is designed by Alfred John Bidwell of the firm Swan and McLaren. In 1914, it started life as a retail office and served as the Oranjie Hotel until soon after World War II. After years of dilapidation, the building was brilliantly restored and reborn in 1994. Today, Stamford House is an upmarket shopping arcade exuding an atmosphere of luxurious elegance, patronised by affluent locals and expatriates.
