Tomas (#165)

This is not exactly a portrait as there is no face visible.

Tomas is originally from Poland and now lives in Italy. Since he doesn't speak neither German nor English and I don't speak neither Polish nor Italian, communication was very difficult. We struggled through a wild mixture of all four languages and some more.

Tomas was creating those huge bubbles and had a second can with soapy water standing next to him for anybody to try for themselves. There was another small box where people could put money in if they wanted to.

The bubbles were great, of course, but it was truly fascinating to see how people reacted to them.

And Tomas is the master of bubbles - or more like a conductor, guiding them out of nothingness and letting them flow into their short lives. Watching him conduct the bubbles was watching an artist being absorbed in his art. That's why I thought that this photo, even if not a portrait in a strict sense, does portray Tomas.

That's how Tomas makes a living, traveling through the countries. He had just arrived in Stuttgart and was planning to stay for a week or so before heading back home to Italy.

Thank you, Tomas!
