Under a full moon - Alaska

Last night the moon bathed the landscape with so much light, that it looked like the middle of the day. The temperature hovered around zero - but the night sky called to me - so out I went. My hubby (Doc Doolittle) left his old tent up this winter. (It houses things like snow blowers and other assorted winter devices.) Standing under the moonlight I thought I could see ghosts of old gold miners gathered around it. (Since many of them spent brutally cold winters in battered old tents - it's not to hard to imagine.) Suddenly - way off in the distance, I heard some wolves calling out to each other. No matter how cold I got, I just had to linger awhile and listen to their soulful sounds. No matter how many years I spend in Alaska - it will always be a magical place to me.

**(This image is SOOC. I used the night "hand held" setting to reduce shake. No processing was used. The amber color comes from a yard light we have on an outbuilding.)

*** Note to friends and family . . . The large earthquake that struck Alaska early this morning - woke me from a sound sleep. It struck about 340 miles southwest of us (as the crow flies). All is well - it is just part of life when you live near the Pacific Rim.
