Saving the Willows - Alaska

Just outside of our cabin door is a particularlty pretty clump of willows that were almost touching the ground under the weight of heavy hoar frost. Even thought the temperatures are still well below zero - Doc. Doolittle decided to go out this afternoon, and knock off as much of the frost as he could to keep the trees from breaking. As fast as he freed up the branches, the chickadee's and other tiny birds flew to the bare branches and sat in the sun preening. I think they appreciated Docs efforts - (and I think I heard the trees breathe a sigh of relief as well.)
