Winter Morning in Alaska
Subzero temperatures greet us each morning now, and the trees are heavy with hoar frost. Pastel colors sweep across the sky and reflect from the snow. When Doc Doolittle went out to feed the birds this morning - I spotted this gray jay as he made his way to the feeders. Doc and I had just enjoyed a pancake and sausage breakfast and the left overs were on the menu for the jays. They all fight to be first, because they want the meat - the slower ones end up with pancakes. As the old saying goes; "the early bird catches the worm" - or in this case, "the sausage".
