First of many

Some initial static testing of the Class 395 Hitachi-built 'high-speed' trains was carried out at Dollands Moor. 395001 stands on No.7 road at Dollands Moor during this period.

Like many in Kent now, I've had the chance to ride on a few of these, and find the ride quite smooth and impressive, and there is at last sufficient legroom on the airline style seats for me to be comfortable. Pleasant units to travel on in my opinion.

Unfortunately the introduction of a Faversham - St Pancras 'Chavelin' service has led to a worsening of our classic train services to/from London Vicoria and Cannon Street, and connections which worked reasonably well for my journey to South Bermondsey / New Cross Gate now do not. And for passengers in the Swale and Medway areas the high speed service is no faster than our old 'classic' service.

The High Speed service is a great development for those living in Ashford and parts of East and South East Kent whose High Speed service runs via Ashford (and if travelling from Gravesend in North Kent too) but most of the rest of us have suffered with a significant deterioration in service.

This exciting transport development could have been managed so much better :(
