The Taupo Tree, Lake Taupo, New Zealand

Liz and I spent the holiday weekend just north of Turangi on the sourthern shores of Lake Taupo. One of my goals for the weekend was to find, and photograph, the "Taupo Tree" which is a long lost cousin to the now infamous "Wanaka Tree".

With a bit of help from another photographer I managed to find the tree in a brief spell of dry weather at sunrise on Sunday, and grabbed a few shots. We even managed to return this morning to grab some more shots of this stunning location before the rain set in again.

Before anyone asks I am not planning to publicly out the location of this tree, mainly because of it's location near residential housing, and the possibility that hordes of photographers descending on this tree will see the tree removed by it's neighbours to return their little piece of paradise to it's forgotten status.
