Progress?

Waipatiki Beach, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand

The Milky Way struggles to be seen through the clouds, and battles against the light pollution from the Port of Napier 20kms away.

We were at Waipatiki Beach with a group of local photographers in a hope to get a better view of the Milky Way, but this is the best that I got. The core of the Milky Way can be seen to the left of the photo with the Southern Cross pointing downwards at the top right of the frame.

The water is the leftovers from a minor flood which swept through the carparking area just this side of the trees.
