RDR-4000 MAN
The true capability of the RDR-4000 is when the pilot's further define the threat weather by running the opposite side radar in MANUAL mode. In Manual mode the radar takes "slices" of sky (no tilt in this radar...only slices from the ground to 60,000') and displays the threat at the selected altitude. To see the height of the wet top of the cloud, simply select a higher altitude on the radar until the threat is not showing. In this case it shows the wet top of the cloud was at 44,000'. When properly used, the RDR-4000 provides far more information to the pilots than a conventional beam based radar.
