Waverley is the last sea-going paddle steamer in the world. Built almost 70 years ago she finished her working life in 1975 & was then bought for £1 by the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society. She was renovated & started her second career as one of the country's best loved tourist attractions. To date has carried over 5 million passengers & visited 60 ports around the UK.
Seen here arriving at Swanage pier, Dorset to travel along the beautiful Jurassic towards the Isle Of Wight IOW). We joined the steamer at Swanage & went across to the Yarmouth, IOW for a walk. The steamer continues on a trip around the island & then returns late afternoon to collect the passengers who disembarked at Yarmouth. A lovely way to spend a day.
