Stream-of-consciousness
I figured, hey, it works with drawing; why not origami? The key to this
sort of exploration is to keep your mind focused on the shapes and
patterns that appear as you are working, and then exploit those within the
confines of the compositional structure. The result is a escheresque
complex of different subjects, related by shape and texture. I'd like to
try this with a more representational style of folding and a larger sheet
of paper at some point, but I don't think I have the technique yet to
create the diverse and versatile forms that would be needed for that sort
of thing.
Folded from (of course) an 8" sheet of bond paper. I took the picture on
the cover of my binder; as you can tell, I like playing with numbers.
Right there I was working on a four-dimensional analogue of Pascal's
triangle; I can post a picture of the whole thing if anyone's interested.
