Christine Palmer (1956-2021) Bio
After graduating from Ames High School in 1974, Christine received a scholarship to attend Boston University, where she studied violin with Roman Totenburg. After graduation, she lived for several years in New York City, where she continued her musical studies. In the early eighties, she earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in music from the Cleveland Conservatory in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1986 she joined the Memphis Symphony Orchestra in Memphis, Tennessee, where she was the first chair of the second violins. She played with the symphony until her retirement in 2009. She was a kind and gentle soul, who, in addition to music, loved animals of any kind, especially cats. Unfortunately, after her retirement, her health declined steadily, and she died in Memphis in 2021.
