Obituary for Karin Lee Bruin
Karin Lee Bruin, passed away on November 21, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 64.
Karin was born March 19, 1956, in Champaign, Illinois, to Jack and Doris Bruin. The Bruin family lived in Champaign and Batavia, Illinois, before moving to Ames, Iowa. Karin spent most of her childhood years in Ames, where she graduated from Ames High School in 1974. After high school Karin attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and then chose to move to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Oklahoma was the childhood home of Karin’s dad, Jack. She spent the rest of her independent adult life in Tulsa. Karin’s work life involved a career in customer service and retail. Her most loved hobbies included antique collecting, gardening, baking and sewing. She was a gifted quilter and her family is graced with many of her handmade quilts that are works of art.
Those left to cherish Karin’s memory are her mother, Doris Bruin of Tulsa, Oklahoma, her sister Marilyn of Sun Lakes, Arizona, and twin sister Diane Lang (Chris) of Des Moines, Iowa. Her nephews, Joel Biggs and Justin Biggs and her nieces, Lisa Ceballos (Juan) and Kathryn Lang (Greg Taylor) and Jaime Lang (Scott Flaegle). Also her great- nephews, Javier and Sidney Ceballos and great-nieces, Mabel and Greta Taylor.
Karin was preceded in death by her father, Jack Bruin.
Karin had a soft spot and gift of compassion for animals, welcoming many four footed friends into her home. She gave and received the love of many pets through the years, including “Boo” her cat, who was her constant and most current companion. Memorial contributions may be directed to Henryetta Animal Aid & Rescue Team, 822 W Main St, Henryetta, OK. 74437.
A private family celebration of Karin’s life will be held in the spring when it is safe to gather. Karin will be laid to rest at Floral Haven Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Condolences may be expressed at www.floralhaven.com.
Her family misses her greatly and prays for her peaceful rest.
