25th annual Ames High School All Class Holiday Gathering get-together Friday December 27, 2019 at Ames History Museum the first of 2 locations for this evenings events, Ames, Iowa. 65+ classmates attended. It is always the social Ames High School Alumni event of the year and this event was also. A ton of fun.

Robert Buck Obituary

January 12, 1932 - April 11, 2022

 

Robert O'Neal Buck, 90, died April 11, 2022, at Northcrest Community. A celebration of life service will be 3:30 p.m. Monday April 18, 2022, at Collegiate Presbyterian Church 159 Sheldon Ave, Ames, IA 50014. A private burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

 

Bob was born January 12, 1932, at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, the third of four boys born to Harold G. and Margaret M. Buck. He attended Welch School from kindergarten (where he met his future wife, Anne Knuths) through 9th grade. At Ames High School, he was very active in sports, earning 9 varsity letters in football, basketball, and track and captain in basketball. He graduated in 1950. Bob & Anne were married Aug 24th, 1951. After Bob's 1954 graduation from I.S.U., they spent the next 2 years at Ft. McClellan in Alabama and Fort Lewis in Washington while Bob served in the Army, he participated in 6 atomic blasts most in six-foot-deep trenches and training troops in making maps of radiation isograms. They returned to Ames in 1956, and in 1961 started Buck Construction Co. Inc., which specialized in custom homes, remodeling, and land development. They worked together in the business, with Bob as Pres. & Treas. And Anne serving as V.P., Sec, Bookkeeper, & decorator until retiring in the year 2000.

 

He has been a member of the Collegiate Presbyterian Church his whole life, serving as a trustee, and held offices in the Ames Jaycees, Ames Homebuilder Assoc., and served time on the Ames Public Library board, Octagon, Ames Chamber of Commerce and Ames School advisory council.

 

He is survived by his wife, Anne K. Buck, of Ames, sons Bruce (Charla) Buck (Osprey, FL) and Steven Buck (Ames, IA), daughter Lisa Buck Marino (Ames, IA) and 2 grandchildren, Robby (Marissa) (Glendale, CA) & Elisabeth Marino (Ames, IA) and brother J. Ben (Sarah) Buck of Ames and nieces and nephews.

His parents preceded him in death and brothers Bill and Jim.

 

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Ames Historical Museum.

February 4, 1932 - December 3, 2022

 

Anne Knuths Buck, 90, of Ames, Iowa, died Saturday, December 3, 2022. Services will be held Thursday, December 15, at 2:30 p.m. at Collegiate Presbyterian Church, 159 Sheldon Ave, Ames (the same Church where she and her future husband, Bob Buck, met as 5 year olds, and were married there as 19 year olds). A private burial will be held at the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

 

Anne was born February 4, 1932, in her family home, the 13th of 14 children born to M. E. & M. F. Knuths. She attended Welch School from kindergarten through 9th grade, graduating from Ames High School in 1950. Bob and Anne were married August 24, 1951. After Bob's 1954 graduation from I.S.U., they spent the next two years at Ft. McClellan in Alabama and Fort Lewis in Washington while Bob served in the Army Chemical Corps. They returned to Ames, and in 1961 started Buck Construction Co., Inc. They worked together in the business with Anne serving as V.P., Sec., bookkeeper & interior decorator for 37 years.

 

She has been a member of the Collegiate Presbyterian Church her whole life and also a member of Chapter HN PEO, Mary Greeley Hospital Auxiliary, Ames Homebuilders Auxiliary, and Ames High Parent Advisory Council.

 

She is survived by her sons Bruce (Charla) Buck of Osprey, FL, and Steven Buck, Ames, IA, a daughter, Lisa Marino, Ames, IA, and two grandchildren, Robby (Marissa) Marino of Glendale, CA, and Elisabeth Marino of Ames, IA, and 33 nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert O. Buck, four brothers, Keith, Carrol, Bob and Mike Knuths, and nine sisters, Cleo, Connie & Thelma Knuths, Carita McCullough, Clare Webster, Ione Smith, Ruth Paddock, Winnefred Butson and Darlene Walton.

 

Anne was proud to be a lifelong Iowan. She was grateful for all of life's blessings and regularly expressed her gratitude. She rejoiced in quality time with family and friends, gardening, butterflies, nature, demonstrating her creativity and sharing with others through art.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the Collegiate Presbyterian Church, Ames History Museum or Reiman Gardens.
