Nick Franck Obituary

Des Moines, Iowa

March 8, 1960 - September 3, 2023

Obituary

Nick Alan Franck was born in Atlantic, Iowa on March 8, 1960 to Alan and Karen Franck. Nick was raised in Ames, Iowa and graduated from Ames High School in 1978, where he was involved in various activities including his favorites, wrestling and cross country. Nick married the love of his life, Mary Burrows, on January 3, 1986. After Nick and Mary married they relocated to Lee’s Summit, Missouri and resided there until 2010. During their time in Missouri Nick and Mary were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Lara and Lindsey.

Nick had a lifelong career as a manufacturer representative in the plumbing wholesale industry and retired from Mack McClain & Associates in December of 2021. He was incredibly passionate about the industry and always willing to help others with various projects, even after retirement he didn’t slow down.

Nick was someone that friends and family could always count on in a time of need. He was known for his extraordinary compassion and selflessness, going above and beyond to support others in any way he could. Whether it was offering guidance and advice, sharing his vast knowledge, or providing financial support, he never hesitated to use his resources for the betterment of those around him. Beyond his unwavering generosity, he possessed an unmatched dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of others, especially his family members. Nick had many candid conversations that moved people in a positive direction and we are extremely thankful to have learned from him. Nick created a lasting impression on all who crossed paths with him and will be tremendously missed.

Nick was the life of the party and took great pleasure in hosting family and friends for get- togethers during holidays, Chiefs games or for no particular reason. He took great joy in extending his table and creating fellowship with others’ no matter the occasion. Nick was a master of building relationships and this served him well throughout his life. He modeled what it meant to live passionately by loving the Kansas City Chiefs, Iowa State Cyclones, and his beloved GTO. Nick loved his wife, his girls, and his grandchildren dearly and unconditionally. He was an incredible Papa and shared so much joy and love in being Papa.

Nick is survived by his wife Mary Franck, his daughters Lara Henson (Austin), Lindsey Shaeffer (Caleb), grandchildren Aubrie Henson, Reed Henson, and Ryerson Shaeffer, sister Angela Johnson (Ted), half sister Lisa Franck, and half brother Justin Benton, his Aunt Jane McWhorter (Bob), many cousins, nieces, and nephews (whom he loved dearly).

Visitation will be held from 9:30-11am, Friday, September 8, 2023 at Iles Westover Chapel, 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines. A memorial service will follow at 11.
