Edna Winifred "Wink" Butson, age 95, of Wells, MN, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Parkview Care Center. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 3:00pm at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Wells, and Pastor John Butson will officiate.
Winifred was born February 14, 1920, the daughter of Michael and Mary Emma (Parsons) Knuths. She was one of 14 children, 10 girls and 4 boys. She earned an RN from Iowa Methodist in Ames, IA. Winifred was united in marriage to Dr. Wallace Butson, veterinarian, on December 14, 1944, and to this union 6 children were born. The couple lived in several places with their young family, before settling in Wells, MN in 1950. Wink raised 4 sons and 2 daughters, and was always involved in their activities, including being a Campfire Leader for many years with her daughters. Wink was an avid bird watcher, and loved to sketch and paint. She loved music, and sang soprano in her church choir. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, and cooking. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Wells, and the Wells United Methodist Church for many years.
Wink is survived by her 6 children: Pamela Lund of New York, NY, John (Patricia) Butson of Laurinburg, NC, James Butson, Michael Butson, Connie (Bill) Allis all of Wells, and Patrick Butson of Swansea, SC; grandchildren: Joel (Amanda) Butson of Brandywine, MD, Scott Butson of Providence, RI, Erin (Mike) Wood of Burnsville, MN, Andrea (Kevin) George of Eagan, MN, Thomas Allis of Wells, Jenny (Chuck) Parzych of Columbia, MO; 5 great-grandchildren: Charles, Joshua, Alexander, Finneus and Lillian; and one great-granddaughter on the way; siblings: Darlene Walton, Anne (Bob) Buck, and Michael Knuths; brother-in-law, Vernon Butson; and many nieces, nephews and their families.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Wallace, 7 sisters and 3 brothers.
