These photographs were taken in two small rural communities in the Western Highlands of Guatemala, about an hour from the city of Quetzaltenango or Xela.
There is a scholarship program in existence that raises money to send young people from these two communities and ten other surrounding communities to middle school and high school. A year of middle school is equivalent to US$80 and a yesr of high school US$300. If you are able to donate the funds are deeply appreciated by all those who recieve them and do a great deal to support landless peasants living in rural poverty to try and create a better future for themselves and their families.
