My Ninjago City Blocks Cover
I'm very excited today, because today is the day that The LEGO Ninjago Movie issue of Blocks Magazine comes out! I had the pleasure of working with my good buddy Daniel Konstanski and photography his insane Ninjago City build - seriously this thing is huge! Plus lots of cool action shots of some of the movie's standout sets going to battle against Lord Garmadon's forces. Make sure to check out the issue, there is a ton of awesome content in it, not just my photos! ;-)
This cover shot in particular was a ton fun. I had the crazy idea of suspending the dragon with fishing wire over the city and photograph it. Seriously, the dragon model is not composited, its hanging from 4 points of wire, and about 5 feet off the ground. It took us an hour just to set it up and get the right pose, and BOOM there you have it! A Ninja Dragon Mech flying over Ninjago City. Unfortunately the version we had did not actually breath green fire, so that my friends is a special effect. ;-)
