Zimbabwe - Emergency Food Production Project
This $4.3 million trade credit guarantee project enables fertilizer importers and aggregators to access fertilizer on credit from Fertilizer Seed Grain. The Africa Fertilizer Financing Mechanism implements this project in Zimbabwe.
The Project seeks to increase the productivity of maize, wheat, and oil seed, by making available at least 60,000 tons of fertilizer to 180,000 beneficiaries. The scheme will help to mitigate food crisis and build farmer’s resilience to global shocks in Zimbabwe.
The Africa Fertilizer Financing Mechanism implements this project following the mandate from the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development of Zimbabwe and the African development Bank as part of the Under the African Emergency Food Production Facility.
