New Jersey Transit Train Crossing the Shark River in Belmar, N.J.

This Photograph shows a New Jersey Transit Commuter Train crossing the Shark River in Belmar, New Jersey. The train is operating in Push-Pull mode, powered by New Jersey Transit Locomotive Number 4202 on the North Jersey Coastline Division.

The North Jersey Coastline (aka: New Jersey Coast Line) Route runs North/South from Bay Head, New Jersey along the Jersey Shore to Hoboken, New Jersey on the Hudson River.

Locomotive 4202 is a Electromotive Division (aka: EMD) built GP40PH-2B Diesel powered Engine. The replacement for the NJ Route 35 Bridge was under Construction, when I took this photograph in June 2002. The new Highway Bridge Piers can be seen in the background, behind the Railroad Bridge. The (then existing old) Highway Bridge can be seen between the Railroad Bridge and the New Bridge Piers.

I took this Photo on June 18, 2002, in Belmar, New Jersey with my Minolta Maxxim 5000 35 mm SLR on Slide Film. I scanned the Slide to create the Electronic Image.
