The sad part about driving back via the non-scenic route was that we were not going to get to stop and get all-you-can-eat split pea soup at Pea Soup Andersen's (which we randomly found in the middle of nowhere on our drive up)...
... or is it?
On our way back, we randomly find THE OTHER Pea Soup Andersen's in a completely different middle-of-nowhere part of central California. There are only two in existence and we randomly stumbled on both of them during this trip.
Needless to say: yumm!
