Planetize your world without photoshop [24,000+ hits & 2000+ dls]
Update: Hi everyone. My apologies for not getting back to people's questions - I've just been a little busy to support this. I'm working on releasing a version that's independent of MATLAB, that should get rid of many of the issues.

Hello fellow earthlings :)
Welcome to Planetizer, a very simple program that will take your picture (often a panorama, but not necessarily) and make it into a little planet, like the one shown above. I tried to make it very simple, so its really just a couple of clicks!
This program is free, and shall remain free. There are no watermarks, save limits, day limits, etc. I ask, however, that you link back to the program's website (www.flickr.com/photos/adijr/3182485875/) so that others may download it, and please leave a comment with any suggestions, feedback, ideas, etc. !

Download - Windows
1) Download Planetizer. No installation necessary, its just a direct executable. However, you need the MATLAB CR (free, etc):
2) download MATLAB Compiler Runtime, here, if don't have it. This is required by planetizer, it is free and installs in a couple of clicks.
Download - Mac
1) download MATLAB Compiler Runtime, here, if don't have it. This is required by planetizer, it is free and installs in a couple of clicks.
2) Now, download Planetizer and the mac runscript. No installation necessary, its just a direct executable.

Feel free to message me or post a comment below!
Advantages
- Planetizer is free!
- Planetizer is very simple - just select your file, and click stereoprojectize :)
- Planetizer is built to be able to handle very large pictures/panoramas. Small pictures/panoramas process in "fast mode", while really large panoramas can be handled by taking a slower route, but not running out of memory like many other programs will. (the largest I've done was ~25,000x7,000 ~= 175MegaPixels)
Motivation...
This is a program I wrote to simplify the process for making tiny planets for everyone. I've read many tutorials that require either Photoshop, GIMP and/or Flexify. While this was fun, I ran into trouble with memory issues [with 3.25GB of memory...], time issues, loss of resolution, etc. For example, the barcelona planet below, initially a 1755x21257 panorama, mostly freezes my Photoshop :( With 'Planetize' it takes ~25 seconds :)
Planetizer was written in MATLAB.
Thank you for the 9000 views and 500 downloads!
