Bean World

When I was in Chicagos Millenium Park with the already famous Cloud Gate (The Bean) close by I remembered a description in a book (Adobe Photoshop CS4 for Photographers - The Ultimate Workshop by Jeff Schewe and Martin Evening) about how to create an aerial fisheye lens effect and thought why not give it a try. Well I did some things right and some things wrong (only using 8 shots for a 360˚ pano is one of the bad things and not having your tripod available is another) but with a few extra hours in post processing and reducing the resolution I believe it looks quite okay for a first try.

I found a nice tutorial afterwards which describes quite well how these "polar panoramas" can be created at Dirk's Photo Blog (note step 3: "The rest is just a little digital darkroom work")
