Winter Sunset on Senja, Norway

This winter landscape photo which I took on the island of Senja is one of my favourites, partly perhaps because it is not a known location, and one which I might have passed without a second glance if it hadn't been for the beautiful sunlight which poured over the area. It is one of those moments where you just want to throw the car off the side of the road and rush to a spot where you can capture the scene before the light changes. Fortunately I was not the driver, so I could simply hop out of the car. The snow banks along the side of the road were so high that it was a challenge to get through and scramble my way to an old fishing hut on the waterfront where I could place the tripod. But it worked, the light stayed for a while longer and allowed me to get this nice composition with the three red boathouses and their reflection in the golden water of the fjord.
