Spirit Island

This is an image that is close to my heart. As a teenager I had a poster of Spirit Island in Lake Maligne on my bedroom wall. The landscape mesmerized me and I really wanted to one day see it for myself. That day finally came in 2015, and what a perfect day it was. We missed the boat that we were planning to take by a few minutes, but were told that an extra boat was being prepared because of high demand. And so we left half an hour later than planned. What a lucky break that was. I guess it was meant to be. The previous boat had only clouds, as did the boat that left half an hour later, but just for our boat the skies opened, the sun came through and I was able to take this iconic shot. The fact that there was a dusting of fresh snow on the mountains wasn't bad either. Ten years later I am still so very glad that I was able to shoot this.
