RNZAF No 6 F.B. Squadron
Members of RNZAF No. 6 Flying Boat Squadron at Halavo Bay, Solomon Islands, 1944.
In 1992 Arthur Manz wrote "The squadron photograph you may have seen reproduced in the RSA Review I calculated that there were 213 on the ground, 138 on the wing, totalling 351. At 10 Stone [63.5 Kg] each the 138 = 1380 Stone [8761Kg] .... Lyell Jepson (my W/Op) calculated 19,600lb [8916Kg] on the wing and he then writes - 'I was away flying that day. So allowing for 3 crews flying, 3 crews on ferry work, and say 10 bodes on essential duties at the time of the photo the squadron strength seems to have been about 440. I am surprised as I would have thought the numbers would have been more than that."
