Under a southern sky

Before I rant on a bit. A must view on black (press L)

One of, if not the most famous ruins in Australia.

The outback Burra Homestead featured on the Midnight oil album "Diesel and Dust" shot by Ken Duncan.

How do you get an original shot of a location that has been shot thousands of times before?? My first thought is always "night shoot" and this is the result.

The eastern end of the milky way.

Some planing has to go into shooting the milky way, as it rises and sets like the sun. there is a program you can download that will give you a virtual run through of the location and time. (cool hey)

foreground light supplied by a passing road train, the red lights down the side of the truck gave the warmth.

We are in the Flinders Ranges tonight and I'm going to go for a full pano of the milky way over the ranges, wish me luck!!
