Drive Death

Sarah's hard drive died a death so abrupt and complete that I could not use software tools to securely erase it. The last resort for data security was to dismantle the drive and destroy its platters. Flexed about 20 degrees, the platters shattered into hundreds of tiny fragments.

I learned my lesson after the first time and shattered the second one in a plastic bag while wearing work gloves.
