Multifunctional Building Ostrava - Vítkovice
The building's exterior reacts to its surroundings.
The façade of the second above-ground floor is designed using sandwich panels with a corrugated metal sheet surface, corresponding with the ones used in the façade of the existing shop floor.
The saw-tooth roof of the building is reminiscent of the plant's once neighbouring the famous Vítkovice Ironworks (now transformed into Vítkovice Machinery Group).
The building is segmented by a glazed parterre divided by transverse supporting walls. The parterre contains a restaurant and a confectionery with a shop.
The unloaded parterre carries a "floating pontoon" of the second above-ground floor with a prominent angle iron spike at the corner of the Šalamounská and Výstavní Street.
The compound contains two administration premises.
At the horizontal level, the building ends with a wooden mass of saw-tooth roofs containing two residential units.
The object has a partial cellar containing the company owner's vinotheque.
Statutory City of Ostrava—title “Dům roku 2009" ( Building of the Year 2009 )
Stavba Moravskoslezského kraje 2009 ( Building of the Moravian-Silesian Region 2009 Award ) — Grand Prize in the "Public Facilities" category
Stavba Moravskoslezského kraje 2009 ( Building of the Moravian-Silesian Region 2009 Award ) — the GRAND PRIX AWARD
