¡Sobre mi cadáver! (over my dead body)
Más vale mala suerte y buena muerte que buena suerte y mala muerte
(Bad luck and a good death is better than good luck and a bad death).
"Día de Muertos is a way of celebrating life rather than focusing on death as something sad. In fact, Mexicans believe mourning and sadness - especially on these dates - is an insult to the dead, that’s the reason why they prefer to celebrate it with music and joy." (abstract from This article)
Based on this very uplifting way of thinking,
we had at heart to celebrate this approach with a tribute to one of most brilliant Disney : Coco.
The story shook our core so much with its beauty and positivity that we couldn't resist ! We are not Mexicans by any means but we truly value that approach and philosphy revolving around the living and the dead and wanted to express it a little sooner than the actual date (November 1 & 2)
If you haven't seen Coco yet, I can't recommand you enough to do it ! It's the perfect month to have a wonderful and festive time watching this animated movie about death and what comes after ♥
We had so much fun creating this whole scene, and took hours to clean up all the melted wax after that one XD
Taken at our home.
A huge thank you to our dear friend Valarie for rezzing the ruin you see in the background !
