Ficus racemosa L. Moraceae. CN: Ara kelupong, Loa, Botree, Peepultree, Pipal, Pipul, Gular, Cluster fig, Udumbara, Sacred fig, Pu ti shu. Distribution range - Indian Subcontinent (Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan), Indo-China (Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam). Tree to 24 m tall; not a strangling fig.. Habitat - riparian; in Peninsular Malaysia found in Kedah. Sacred tree in Hinduism and Buddhism. Fruits edible and plant parts widely used in traditional folkloric medicines.
