Despite the torrential rain over 100 young people made up of 17 teams took part in the first ever Positive Futures Gwent regional football tournament. The Centre for Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach was a great venue to host the teams who came from various projects run by Positive Futures and funded by the Police and Crime Commissioner in Gwent and Sport Wales.
The tournament, sponsored by the Asda Foundation and Active Communities Network ran for two age groups, U16 and over 16. The Under 16 category was won by ‘Randomz’ whilst the Over 16 group was won by ‘Brian Munich’. Each young person received a healthy packed lunch and t-shirt to commemorate the day and music was played out across the venue which added to the atmosphere
The Deputy Police Crime Commissioner for Gwent, Paul Harris and the Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough, Councillor Leon Gardiner presented the trophies to the winners and were on hand to help give out medals to each participant.
