Tuesday 15 April 2014: Sydenham, London -

Thanks to £200,000 of National Lottery funding from Sport England’s Community Sport Activation Fund we were able to expand Breaking Barriers in Sydenham which was set-up in response to a need for more after-school sports activities for 14+ year old's and to celebrate that we run a launch event at The New Generation Centre in Sydenham, south London.

Breaking Barriers was among 36 other projects across the country who received a share of £5.9 million funding to support grassroots sport activity.

Designed in response to local demand, the Community Sport Activation Fund allows local authorities, charities and other organisations to apply for funding for innovative projects that will get more people playing sport.

London Youth and the Rio Ferdinand Foundation were also present at the partnership launch to highlight their role in providing coaches and further developing networks so Breaking Barriers can reach the maximum amount of young people in Lewisham.
