Friday 20 March 2015, The Kia Oval, London, UK - 5 Star Active - a formal network partnerships of cutting-edge ‘Sport for Development’ charities delivering services to young people managed by the award-winning Active Communities Network - launched at the world-famous Oval cricket ground.
Jockey Hayley Turner, GB Weightlifter Jo Calvino and former professional football Jason Roberts launched the partnership with Turner announced as their new ambassador.
Delivering services to young people and working in partnership across the UK and Ireland, 5 Star Active programmes are open to all young people but are especially targeted at those who have experienced backgrounds of poverty, violence, abuse or neglect.
With solutions built on evidence and experience, 5 Star Active has become a key driving force addressing the youth crime, education and employment agendas and engages, mentors and supports young people, within their local neighbourhoods, helping to tackle poverty, create opportunities and inspire change.
