in the ongoing attempts to elucidate what, exactly, is plaguing my computer, I bought a new graphics card. turns out that my old graphics card wasn't the problem. now I have to decide whether to just enjoy the upgrade, or return it. either way, I still have to figure out what's causing my crashes...
