Freight Backpack - front view
From the front (or back). I wanted black with a splash of colour, a deep yellow/marigold (#FFCC00?) with grey. Old Absenter.org colours that I still love to this day.

My new custom Freight backpack from Travis Poh at Freight Baggage.
I've been using an Ortlieb for a while (a separated collarbone made me abandon single strap messenger bags), which I love but there are a few shortcomings. I wanted something that wasn't as loud (the Ortlieb is bright red) and something shorter and higher on my back (the Ortlieb is also tall and the bottom of the bag sits at my waist).
I'd heard nothing but good things about the bags Travis was making specifically his backpacks. I got a chance to try one out in SF (thanks to Judah's) and fell in love with how utilitarian they were -- driven by function then form.
