Artwork Cornucopia - Hoorn des Overvloeds - Markthal (Rotterdam/NL)
Artwork Cornucopia - Hoorn des Overvloeds - the interior of the Markthal is covered with a 11,000 m² (two football fields) large artwork by Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam, entitled "Hoorn des Overvloeds". This title refers to the Cornucopia, a horn of Latin mythology which symbolizes abundance and saturation.
The artwork shows strongly enlarged fruits, vegetables, seeds, fish, flowers and insects. It was made using digital 3D-techniques, printed on 4000 perforated aluminum panels and covers the ceiling of the hall. Some now call it "The largest artwork in the world" or "The Sistine Chapel of Rotterdam".
Quote: Markt is eigenlijk een "Hoorn des Overvloeds". Veel beeld, kleur en smaak en er is altijd wat te beleven.
