Mechelen - Restaurant De Oude Brouwerij

Hotel Restaurant "De Oude Brouwerij" - one of the best culinair gems in the Geuldal region. Typical Limburg hospitality combined with culinary local specialties, really a place to discover, taste and take home as a wonderful memory and return a next time.

Mechelen - in 1133 the name Mechluns appears, in the 14th century Mechlen, in 1842 Mechelen and is said to come from the Germanic * magalunas which means "near the large, powerful place" and named after the Malensbos Mechelen originated as a settlement around an estate that was donated to the Order of St. John in 1215 by Henry III, Duke of Limburg. In the 14th century, the glory came into the possession of Mr. van Wittem, but part of the village, together with the Commandery of the Order, remained an enclave within the glory. In 1579 and 1588 the monastery and the farm were destroyed by fire, after which the Johannieters left for Aachen in 1588. Today a very nice village in the Geuldal region.
